New York Mets Weather Playbook: Queens Coastal, Deep Right-Center

Home advantage

Citi Field sits adjacent to Flushing Bay and less than a mile from LaGuardia. Right-center at 385 feet magnifies wind effects on batted balls to that part of the park. Southwest wind blows out; sea breeze from the east and southeast blows straight in. Sea-breeze reversal in the sixth or seventh inning can flip an offensive environment into a suppressive one.

Division road environments

NL East road trips into Braves summer humidity, Marlins dome-roof, Nationals Park DC heat, and Citizens Bank humid heat. All are warm humid parks similar to Citi in July and August but with different dimensions.

For DFS and bettors

Southwest wind at 12-plus mph with warm humid air is the highest-scoring setup at Citi. Handicap sea-breeze timing for afternoon starts, since the direction reversal can change hourly conditions dramatically.
