Citi Field Weather: Queens Coastal Setting, Deep Right-Center

Climate

Citi Field sits in Flushing, Queens, adjacent to Flushing Bay and less than a mile from LaGuardia. Summer conditions are hot humid with July averages in the upper 80s and dew points in the 60s and low 70s. Coastal fronts and sea breeze are common weather features for afternoon and evening games.

How wind plays here

Center field is to the east. Southwest wind blows out to center. Sea breeze from the east and southeast blows straight in from center. Right-center at Citi is 385 feet deep, so wind effects there are magnified on batted balls that would carry to right field in shorter parks.

For DFS and bettors

Wind direction relative to right-center is the leverage at Citi. Southwest wind at 12-plus mph combined with warm humid air are the highest-scoring conditions. Sea-breeze reversal in the sixth or seventh inning can flip a good hitting environment into a carry-suppressing one.
