This week's weather

Thursday: This is going to be an absolutely brutal day of golf with winds gusting 40-50mph for much of the day. Before we try to dive deep on wind, let's talk rain chances too. The morning could see some scattered showers, probably all very light. The afternoon has a chance of a few spotty downpours (heavier, but spottier), the coverage is quite low and it's more likely we avoid afternoon rain. There is however no avoiding the wind. Early morning golfers get the "best" of it, with early morning winds at 15-20mph sustained and gusts in the 30s... but that will quickly climb by the mid-morning to 20+mph sustained and gusts at or above 40mph. I expect we'll stay in that range of sustained winds 20-25mph, gusts over 40mph through the late morning and into the mid afternoon. By the late afternoon, say 5PM or so, winds will start backing off, and will actually drop fairly quickly. So if you pick a morning golfer, and it's VERY early, you might have a few manageable holes, or if you pick a late afternoon golfer you might have a decent back 9, but everyone is getting hammered by the wind at some point... and for most golfers the wind will be crushing all round long. Friday: Winds calm down a LOT on Friday. It's still breezy, but no more 40-50mph wind gusts. I expect AM winds around 10-15mph sustained with gusts in the low-to-mid 20s. Afternoon winds 15-20mph with gusts in the low-to-mid 20s. Saturday: I see Saturday as a "steadily breezy" day. 15mph sustained winds essentially all day, gusts around 25mph. Sunday: A bit lighter in the wind department than the rest of the tournament, and a bit more of a steady build of the winds throughout the day. We may start out with winds a bit under 10mph, and steadily build them up to 15mph by the afternoon. Overall: There's no right answer here, just varying degrees of wrong answers. My only real take is that you'd prefer to golf really really early on Thursday, or really really late on Thursday, and hopefully then you can at least get a few holes without 40+mph wind gusts.
