American Family Field closes the roof for the majority of games in April, May, September, and October because of cold, and for rain year-round. Closed conditions produce 72-degree indoor baseball with no wind. Open roof in warm summer months sees south wind and lake-influenced cooler baseline temperatures than inland Midwest.

Division road environments

NL Central road trips into Wrigley wind, GABP hitter-friendly Cincinnati, PNC Pittsburgh, and Busch Stadium St. Louis summer heat. Wrigley wind direction and GABP built-in home run environment are the main variables.

For DFS and bettors

Roof status at American Family is the day-of-game leverage. Closed roof is neutral and stagnant; open roof on a warm humid night with south wind is the friendliest hitting conditions.
