Climate
Progressive Field is in downtown Cleveland about six blocks from the Cuyahoga and less than a mile from Lake Erie. April and early May games regularly play in the 40s and 50s with lake-influenced wind. Midsummer runs warm with dew points in the mid-60s, cooler than most Midwest cities because of the lake.
How wind plays here
Center field is to the east (bearing 90 degrees). West wind blows straight out to center, and north wind off the lake blows across the field from left to right. The lake-effect setup can suppress carry by 5 to 10 degrees on evening games in April and May.
For DFS and bettors
Watch north wind and low dew points early in the season. Those combinations can knock 20 feet off fly balls. Warm humid nights with light south wind are the friendliest hitting conditions at Progressive.
